Fox News host Raymond Arroyo kicked off a storm in February when he claimed Black people would vote for Donald Trump after the Republican Party frontrunner debuted his brand’s $399 gold-coloured trainers at Sneaker Con, an event for fanatics of athletic footwear.
“This is [the shoes] connecting with Black America. Because they’re into sneakers. They love sneakers. This is a big deal. Certainly in the inner city,” Arroyo said.

Both sides of the US political divide have long used Black people to win power in exchange for crumbs.
