The US has expelled South Africa’s ambassador over his critical remarks about Donald Trump, alleging the president is mobilising fears that White people will become a minority. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed Ebrahim Rasool “hates” Trump. The move deepens the rift between the two counties, with Washington falsely accusing Pretoria of discriminating against White South Africans in its bid to try and correct historical injustices with land expropriations (in certain, very limited cases). When he was a child, Rasool was reportedly forced from his home by the apartheid regime, which banned non-Whites from possessing most of South Africa’s land. Opposition parties such as the Economic Freedom Fighters have urged Pretoria to stand up to “the orange clown.”
