Malema: Close Israeli Embassy

Economic Freedom Fighters (@effsouthafrica) President Julius Malema urged South Africa’s government to remain resolute in the face of US President Donald Trump’s administration threatening to cut HIV/AIDS programme aid as a gesture of support for the Afrikaner-led separatist Orania Movement.

Allegedly sparked by South Africa enacting a land expropriation law that would primarily affect white settlers, many see the United States’ real beef being South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. Lodged on 29 December 2023, South Africa alleged that Israel had committed and was committing gnocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, contravening the UN Gnocide Convention.

In this clip of his speech at South Africa’s recent State of the Nation address, Malema (@julius.malema.sello [IG], @julius_s_malema [X]) called for closing the Israeli embassy in South Africa following the recall of Israel’s ambassador to South Africa in November 2023.
